In 2012 the ALSA Clayton Utz Conference is being held in Melbourne. More than 500 students from around Australia, as well as New Zealand and South East Asia will be in attendance. Silver registration is $500. Gold registration, which includes accommodation at The Sebel and Citigate Albert Park is $850.

This year the Guide was launched at our second annual Networking Evening on 23 April at Monash Law Chambers, where 150 students interacted with firm representatives. Attending students received a copy of the Guide. The Guide is now available in electronic form for all Monash law students (see the 'Seasonal Clerkship Guide' page under the Careers tab on the Monash LSS website).

The 2012 Careers Fair will be held as part of the ALSA Clayton Utz Conference. The event will be held at the MCG from 5pm till 8pm on the 12th July. Just in time for clerkship applications, this is a great opportunity to meet employers and ask those final few questions to ensure your CV stands out. For those of you in first to third year, this free event provides a great opportunity to view the field, start to learn about the various firms in Melbourne and stock up on a year's supply of stationary.

Embrace Education is a charity working out of Monash's Clayton campus. We which seeks to provide free tutoring and educational support for disadvantaged high school students, particularly those from refugee and recent migrant backgrounds. Using volunteer university students as role models and mentors, Embrace Education is making a real difference to students' lives throughout Melbourne.
We're looking for an enthusiastic new member of our team, to be the Programs Director. Working 19 hours a week, the successful applicant will manage Embrace’s volunteer recruitment, training and support processes at Monash University and coordinate the Individual and In-School Tutoring Programs. Additionally, the Programs Director will work closely with Embrace Education’s volunteer committees to guide the strategic direction and sustainable development of the organisation.

Seasonal clerkships for later lawyers

Later Lawyers’ networking lunches offer the perfect opportunity for later lawyers to get together, share their experiences with other later lawyers and hear from guest speakers who have also entered the law later in life. The session will cover:
- securing a seasonal clerkship as a later lawyer,
- making your application stand out, and
- the importance of harnessing your previous experience.
