4. LIV Leading Quill Scholarship 2012

 

LIV Young Lawyers in partnership with the College of Law is offering the exclusive opportunity for one final year law student to complete their Practical Legal Training (PLT) complimentary at the College during 2013. To be in the running eligible entrants need to submit a piece of writing addressing the question If you were Attorney-General for the day what law would you reform and why?

6. Australian Law Students' Association Clayton Utz Conference (Melbourne) 2012

 

9 - 16th July

$500 silver registration

In 2012 the ALSA Clayton Utz Conference is being held in Melbourne. More than 500 students from around Australia, as well as New Zealand and South East Asia will be in attendance. Silver registration is $500. Gold registration, which includes accommodation at The Sebel and Citigate Albert Park is $850.

7. SEASONAL CLERKSHIP GUIDE 2012 NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE

 

This year the Guide was launched at our second annual Networking Evening on 23 April at Monash Law Chambers, where 150 students interacted with firm representatives. Attending students received a copy of the Guide. The Guide is now available in electronic form for all Monash law students (see the 'Seasonal Clerkship Guide' page under the Careers tab on the Monash LSS website).

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE GUIDE IS ONLY AVAILABLE FOR REGISTERED MONASHLSS MEMBERS WHO LOG INTO THE MONASH LSS WEBSITE.

10. King & Wood Mallesons Insight Program

 

WHAT IS INSIGHT?
This program offers students a unique 
insight into our day-to-day operations 
and an opportunity to network with 
lawyers and partners.
 
WHO SHOULD APPLY?
The program is aimed at law students 
who are not yet able to apply for a 
summer clerkship (i.e. 3rd year or 
equivalent).  If you are eligible for a 
clerkship this year but are unable to 
participate (e.g. overseas exchange) 
and would like to participate in Insight 
or discuss alternative clerkship options, 
please contact us.
 
WHAT WILL I DO IN INSIGHT?
The program consists of 4 sessions at 
our offices in Bourke Place.

11. Maurice Blackburn Women in the Law Breakfast

12. 2012 Careers Fair

The 2012 Careers Fair will be held as part of the ALSA Clayton Utz Conference. The event will be held at the MCG from 5pm till 8pm on the 12th July. Just in time for clerkship applications, this is a great opportunity to meet employers and ask those final few questions to ensure your CV stands out. For those of you in first to third year, this free event provides a great opportunity to view the field, start to learn about the various firms in Melbourne and stock up on a year's supply of stationary.

13. Embrace Education - seeking a paid, part-time Programs Director

 

Embrace Education is a charity working out of Monash's Clayton campus. We which seeks to provide free tutoring and educational support for disadvantaged high school students, particularly those from refugee and recent migrant backgrounds. Using volunteer university students as role models and mentors, Embrace Education is making a real difference to students' lives throughout Melbourne.

 

We're looking for an enthusiastic new member of our team, to be the Programs Director. Working 19 hours a week, the successful applicant will manage Embrace’s volunteer recruitment, training and support processes at Monash University and coordinate the Individual and In-School Tutoring Programs. Additionally, the Programs Director will work closely with Embrace Education’s volunteer committees to guide the strategic direction and sustainable development of the organisation

17. LSS Mental Health Awareness

The Monash Law Students’ Society is committed to de-stigmatising mental health through annual mental health awareness events, fundraisers and provision of mental health resources to students throughout the year, particularly during the exam period. In collaboration with the Tristan Jepson Memorial Foundation, the Monash LSS is proud to announce the launch of its ‘Mental Health Awareness’ Tab, available at http://monashlss.com/education/mental-health-awareness.
