The Monash Law Students’ Society (‘LSS’) is officially calling for nominations for the 2026-27 term! Joining the largest law students’ society in Australia is a fantastic way to get involved, give back to the law student body, learn new skills and make lifelong friends.
Nominations officially opened at 9:00 am this morning, Monday, 31 August 2026.
Eligibility and Roles
To be eligible to run for a position, you must:
- Be a Monash University Law student (LLB, JD or LLM);
- Hold a current LSS membership;
- Be able to commit to fulfilling all role requirements for the entirety of the term from 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2027; and
- Not be away for more than four consecutive weeks during a semester (e.g., no semester-long exchange).
Over 70 positions are available across both LLB and PG portfolios, including Administration, Activities, Careers, Competitions, Education, Social Justice & Equity and Sports & Welfare. You can choose to run independently or on a ticket with two or more people under the same portfolios, but everyone will be voted on individually for their nominated position. Key Election Dates
- Nominations Open: 9:00 am, Monday, 31 August
- Election Information Session: 4:30 pm, Wednesday, 2 September
- Nominations Close: 9:00 am, Friday, 4 September
- Campaigning Begins: 9:00 am, Monday, 7 September
- Voting Opens: 9:00 am, Wednesday, 9 September
- Voting Closes: 5:00 pm, Friday, 11 September
- Results Announced: Monday, 14 September at the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting
- New Committees Take Office: 1 October 2026
How to Nominate and Campaign
To nominate yourself for a position, download the nomination form, fill out your details, have another LSS member second your nomination and email the electronic form to Jess at with the subject line ‘[YOUR NAME]-2026-LSS-Election-Nomination-Form’ by 9:00 am on Friday, 4 September 2026. No nominations will be accepted past this deadline.
Once campaigning officially begins, please remember that only online campaigning via platforms like Facebook and Instagram is permitted. In-person campaigning, texting and ticket endorsements (posting other tickets on your own page) will not be accepted.
All members will be sent a unique, single-use voting link on Wednesday, 9 September.

If you have any questions about the available roles or the election process, please register for the Election Information Session, which will be held on Wednesday, 2 September at 4:30 pm.
All members interested in nominating in the upcoming election are also encouraged to attend the Special General Meeting (‘SGM’) TONIGHT from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm via Zoom. It is intended that the following motion be proposed as a special resolution:
- That the club adopt the revised Law Students’ Society Rules of Association, as approved by the C&S Executive on 17 July 2026;
- That the club appoint Jessica Oon as the Returning Officer to run the election.
