Tutorials

The postgraduate Tutorials Program provides an array of tutorials aimed at assisting postgraduate law students with their studies.

In 2023, in addition to our popular Exam Revision tutorials, every
core unit from LAW5001 onwards will have monthly tutorials run by high-achieving students. These provide students the opportunity to revise and consolidate concepts, get exam tips and ask questions in a more casual environment.

All tutorials will be facilitated via Zoom and recorded to be made available on the LSS website afterwards.

Keep an eye out on the Monash Postgraduate Law Students’ Society Facebook page for tutorial timetables and sign-up forms.

Disability & Wellbeing

The Disability and Wellbeing Officer is a new position in the LSS for 2023. It focuses on inclusion and accessibility for all Monash law students. The Disability and Wellbeing Officer provides a point of reference for law students living with a disability, chronic illness or other impairment as well as fostering a safe and supportive space for such students. Allies are invited to join the community. This office will provide a much-needed voice for law students with a disability whilst encouraging them to build positive relationships and succeed academically, despite the barriers to access that such students face.

Don’t hesitate to contact Dilara Anaz, the postgraduate Disability and Wellbeing Officer, on disabilitywellbeing@monashlss.com.

International Officer

The LSS International Students Officer will look after all the international students and make you feel at home. Please don’t hesitate to email me pg.interofficer@monashlss.com) if you are seeking any help or advice.

We will also arrange an array of activities alongside the undergraduate International Student Officer to help you have the best possible time while studying here away from home!

Academic Advocacy

I am Sophie Nash, your academic Advocacy Officer for 2023 and your point of contact for academic-related matters.

Whether it’s assessments, curriculum content, course offerings, grievances with staff or requests regarding timetable and lecture recordings — I’m your go-to person.

In addition to acting on cohort-wide issues, I can help individuals navigate the Monash’s systems and processes, and I regularly liaise with the Faculty regarding students’ feedback on academic matters.

As a representative for JD and LLM students, I regularly sit on the Faculty Education Committee, multiple student representative panels and disciplinary hearings. Hence, I’m committed to addressing various cohort-wide academic concerns and present these issues through regular correspondence with the Law Faculty.

If you have any concerns, reach out to: pg.academicadvocacy@monashlss.com.

Publications

Postgraduate Guide
The LSS provides students with informative and insightful publications that support students through their course.

The Postgraduate Guide is a comprehensive publication which further explains the JD and LLM courses from student perspectives and details opportunities available to students through the LSS and our broader law community.

Its intention is to be a holistic guide on all things related to life as a law student.

Access the guide here.

Electives Guide
New in 2023, the Education Portfolio will be publishing an Electives Guide for all JD/LLM electives!

The Electives Guide will provide in-depth reviews of various electives, written by students who have previously completed the subject.

The LSS hopes that this guide will help students choose which subjects to undertake and help with course-planning so that students know the workload required for each subject!
