Congratulations and Welcome to Monash Law School!! This is a remarkable and exciting achievement, and you should be so proud. Starting law school can be a fun but daunting experience. The LSS Peer Mentor Program (PMP) is here to welcome you and make the transition run more smoothly.
PMP has helped the transition of thousands of Monash first-year law students since its establishment in 2007.
During O–Week, you will be welcomed into a group with other first-year law students pursuing similar degrees and led by two passionate mentors and who have been in your shoes. Their invaluable experiences will assist you in any questions you may have, from timetabling issues and study skills to the best coffee spots on campus! They will be able to guide you to support services and ensure that your transition into law school is as seamless as possible.
Movie Night and Orientation
With an iconic law movie screening, Movie Night is the first of many opportunities to meet your soon-to-be classmates and wider Monash law community. Followed by Orientation day, you will have the chance to meet other first-years, tour the law building and get acquainted with the everyday life of a Monash law student.
Academic Events
First year of law school can take some adjusting to! PMP hosts a range of academic events including “Essay Writing with Faculty,” “Study Skills and Wellbeing,” and “Crash Course to Law Exams.” Your mentors will keep you updated throughout the first semester and more information can be found throughout the year through LSS socials and through your student emails. The PMP is here to help you thrive in law school!
Social Events
Law school is not all about the grind! PMP has many events throughout the semester to help you meet other first year law students outside of class! Most anticipated is our big Trivia Night, where you are invited to bring your competitive (and collaborative) spirit for a night of fun memories and free food! Additionally, we are excited to launch our “Networking 101” event in 2026 to support you to build your professional skills.
