Early Years Networking Night
The inaugural Early Years Networking Night is set to take place on Wednesday, 12 August at the Monash Law Chambers.
This event is designed to introduce first and second year students to the atmosphere of professional networking events and extend their professional circle whilst still early in their degree.
As often recommended by later years students, building your experience in settings like these is very important and heavily helps with the process of applying for clerkships, internships and other graduate roles in the years to come.
Alternative Legal Pathways Night
The Alternative Legal Pathways Night broadcasts non-commercial areas of law that many students are still widely interested in. This event is to be hosted in collaboration with the Melbourne University Law Students’ Society as well, providing additional networking opportunities with students of a different cohort which Monash University students may not commonly see on 26 August at the Monash Law Chambers.
Attending this event is set to be professionals from criminal law firms, barristers, regulators, in-house counsels, firms dedicated towards helping students with their practical legal training amongst many more.
This event is designed not only for students interested in non-commercial pathways, but also other students who may not have even yet contemplated the opportunities available outside of traditional commercial law.
JobSeekers Night
The inaugural JobSeekers Night is set to take place at the Monash Law Chambers on Thursday, 10 September. This event is all about practically putting students in the position to get jobs.
The event will take the form of firms each setting up stalls and meeting students, where throughout the night interested firms will provide a student with further contact information such as an email or phone number to later lock in a time for an interview.
There are many firms out there with capacity and a desire to hire students, and there are many students out there looking to work in law firms as well. This event aims to match the demand with the supply and help further students’ careers with providing the capability for them to attain legal experience.
Alumni Networking Night
The Alumni Networking Night is all about having successful Monash University alumni return to show current students the pathway they took after starting from the very same classrooms they did.
It is a mixture of inspiration for what is possible to achieve, coupled with practical tips of how students should go about their careers and what to expect or to avoid when entering full-time work.
The event is slated to take place on Monday, 21 September at the Monash Law Chambers in what is scheduled to be the final Careers Portfolio event for the year.
