Women’s Office

We have the incredible opportunity to support women and gender-diverse
people, providing opportunities to get involved, to grow as a person and law students, and understand how the law impacts us and how we, in turn, can impact it.

At the Women’s Office, we empower women-identifying and gender-diverse individuals to embrace courage, inspiration, and confidence. Our mission is to help you make the most of every opportunity—at university and beyond. We aim to create a supportive, inclusive community where everyone feels a sense of belonging and empowerment through meaningful networking, skill-building workshops, impactful initiatives, and engaging events.

We have a wonderful community of strong and successful law students, and the Women’s Office is working to enhance this experience and strengthen these bonds.

2026...

Here’s a look at what’s to come this year

International Women’s Day – 6th March (PG) | 9th March (LBB)

All about celebrating women, honouring advocacy, and highlighting the importance of continual action and movement forward, the LSS will be hosting a little handout of something special to mark International Women’s Day in 2026.

Women in Law Bar Night – 23rd April

For our first big event of the year, we’re taking over a secret location to bring you a wonderful night dedicated to connection, celebration, and the incredible women and gender-diverse students in law, as we enjoy delicious canapes and cocktails.

Whether you’re there to meet new people, catch up with friends, or simply unwind and enjoy a well-earned night out, this event will not disappoint!

Women in Law Leadership Masterclass – 18th May

We are so excited to host our second year of this event – a powerful masterclass for women-identifying and gender-diverse students focusing on you.

This won’t be your typical panel!

Instead, think hands-on activities, real conversations and connections, and practical skills in communication, self-belief, and leadership. We’re creating a space that’s relaxed, supportive, and inspiring: all about growing confidence, identity, and purpose. ✨

Professional Mentoring Program Women’s Stream – Second Semester

This stream of the PMP ensures that students are able to be mentored by other women who have a better idea of the experience of women in a variety of legal areas and workplaces, so keep an eye out for information from our Careers Portfolio about when and how to apply!

Women in Law Breakfast – 18th August

Our flagship event, the Women in Law Breakfast, is a celebration of the strength and achievements of Women in Law, featuring a panel of wonderful speakers over a delicious breakfast.

Join us to meet fellow law students, hear the experiences and advice of our panellists, and be inspired by the myriad of opportunities waiting for you. Tickets are limited, so keep an eye out for them!

Women in Law Pathways and Possibilities – 22nd September

This event offers an invaluable opportunity for women-identifying and gender-diverse students to hear from accomplished women in the legal profession as they share their experiences, challenges, and advice on navigating diverse career pathways. Following the panel, there will be ample time to network with students and legal representatives.

We encourage allies to join us and to learn how we all have a role to play to push for progress in the law!

Women’s Moot Competition – September

Feeling a bit confused or intimidated about what mooting is and where to start? Join us in the second semester for our Moot Competition in a supportive and friendly environment, to build or hone your oral advocacy and legal research skills.

Women’s Liberation Halfway House Collection Boxes throughout 2026

The LSS will have collection boxes at both Monash Law Chambers and the Clayton Campus at our offices, to collect a range of items requested by our partner, YANA Family Violence Service, including new toiletries, books, and kids toys, and new and like-new clothing for the women and children that they support.
